The Calico Palace

Stretching out a graceful thrirty-eight feet from fore to aft, The Calico Palace is a beautiful two masted ship. The top deck is divided into two layers. The fore deck is raised and flat for twenty-five feet with some low seats, but for the most part everything up here is geared around working the two masts and the ship's wheel. The lower aft deck drops five feet down and is a "U" shaped seat to fit a good five people comfortably and can be made into a bed if neeeded. In front of the seat is a door that slips down into the inner deck. With a light cherry-wood stain on the floor boards to a white paint along the hull, new ropes and white sails, it is a sharp little ship.

It has a small figure-head like many larger sailing vessels sport - a spread 'winged' manta-ray leaping out of waves, its back to a saber and its barbed tail coiled around it. The hilt of the sword is held upwards might remind some of a cross.

"The Past doesn't make you, it is what you make of your Past." - thus reads her ship's bell

Inside the smallish door are stairs to lead to the inner deck. The fore deck has two small rooms, both with single bunkies and rather cramped to get around in. Then a kitchenette and a dinning area that can be transformed into a long couch or another bed. The center of the deck has a pole that leads up to the upper deck that is about five inches in diameter. In the back is a master bedroom with a queen bed built in with closet space. Next to that is a privy of rather descent design for a ship. There are hidden storage spaces everywhere in the frame-work. Each board has been stained in a light cherry-wood... and if you look at it hard enough...you might see the ghost of an image made by staining a bit heavier in places. There is one strange face, a droopy flower in the corner there, and who knows how many more. It would take time to find them all. All the cushions and quilts are done in a blue calico fabric with light tiny tiny yellow flowers.
