The Swamp
Swamp lands patch this area of earth at the river's delta. Ancient cypress still grow centuries after they first started life, growths of heavy thick dripping spanish moss grows on anything and everything. Red bugs, big bugs, mud-bugs (crawfish), gators, fire ants, armidillos, frogs, turtles, and even the occastional white crane that takes your breath away with its unexpected beauty grace this place. The swamp teams with life.
The Barrier
The deeper you get, the less land there is, and the more stagnant and at times smelly sulfur water you see. And that is all you see unless Gurith chooses to let you see more. Those coming here face an enormous power of psionics about two hundred yards around the cabin. They are alien mental powers that would make the place look like a mirror of the rest, and actually bend things to make a person walk away and still think they are going foreward. |
Swamp fact: The Tangebohoa Parish is where Towim's Mother grew up. Details facts and much of what the place looks like have been taken from a true to life place in Covington, LA USA. |

The Path
There is no way to travel without getting wet save a small boat that looks to have seen better days, yet indicates there may be life out here. Of course, the water is not that deep so wading is an option. There is a nice patch of water before the land mass begins again. From there it is rather visible that people travel here and not so difficult to find the small cabin built on stilts against the flood seasons and hurricanes. There are with wood pilings and a fire pit, tarps and all sorts of things beside the cabin. The Cabin
A humble cottage on stilts remains above the water line among the large oaks dripping in spanish moss. Bugs are bad here. The house has a tarred roof, and screen only windows and door, with rolled fabric for rain. All built of old ship's lumber perhaps.
Inside is one room only, with a pillar in the center to hold the roof up more. The structure is sound. A cot is in the far corner with minimal blankets. Another corner has a make shift cupboard and sink, a third holds a dresser looking thing, and the forth is partitioned off from the rest of the house. Things are spotless despite its location. Closer inspection would show a trap door of sorts, and above the ceiling a place that can be a sun roof, though primitive. |
